Cars have been a problem for me for a very long time – a “what happens if we change this, lower that, add more power and pretend the budget doesn’t exist?” problem.

This is where I’m dumping all of it: old builds, past shows, current projects, favourite photos, questionable modifications, strong opinions, unsolicited automotive commentary, and whatever mechanical rabbit hole has hijacked my attention this week.

Expect nostalgia, back yard modifications, bad financial decisions, car-show memories and the occasional rant about something the automotive world has collectively decided is “normal.”

hybrid cars

Miyamoto Musashi, who is a legendary Japanese swordsman coined that phrase. Funny because Hybrids account for over 60% of new passenger vehicle registrations in Japan. It hurts me to say I am actively learning about HEV, PEV and BEV vehicles. Grrr.

Mild Hybrid

Uses a small electric motor to assist the gasoline engine, but cannot power the vehicle on its own. Common examples include the Nissan Qashqai and Toyota Corolla.

Full Hybrid

Can operate independently on electric power, using regenerative braking to recharge the battery. Popular models include the Toyota Prius.

Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV)

Can be recharged via an external power source, allowing for extended electric-only driving. They offer a greater electric-only range compared to full hybrids

Series Hybrid

The gasoline engine acts as a generator to power the electric motor, allowing for efficient operation in stop-and-go traffic. This type is less common but includes models like the Porsche 911 GTS T-Hybrid.
