Some movies weren’t satisfied with just being movies. No, that would be far too reasonable. Instead, they kicked the door open, moved into the toy aisle, and in many cases somehow ended up with cartoons too. That’s how we got things like ALF and The A-Team turning into action figures, vehicles, playsets, and all kinds of wonderfully unnecessary merch. Because apparently in the 80s and early 90s, the answer to every good idea was, “Yes, but can we make toys of it?” And if the answer was yes, the next question was usually, “Can we also animate it for children, regardless of whether that makes any sense?” Sometimes it made perfect sense. Sometimes it made absolutely none. Either way, I loved it. This page is my stepping stone into all those movie-based toy lines—the ones inspired by films that somehow managed to appeal to kids, teens, and adults all at once, then refused to stay in just one lane.
