There were actually two completely different Ghostbusters cartoons, because apparently the 80s decided one group of people catching ghosts just wasn’t confusing enough.

Filmation’s Ghostbusters came first, based on an older live-action show, and followed Jake, Eddie and Tracy the gorilla cruising around in their bizarre ghost buggy fighting supernatural nonsense. Then The Real Ghostbusters arrived after the 1984 movie and gave us Peter, Ray, Egon, Winston, Ecto-1 and Slimer.

So despite the nearly identical names, they had nothing to do with each other. One had proton packs and a hearse. The other had a gorilla in a hat.
