Beetlejuice, or Betelgeuse hit theatres in 1988, the animated series followed in 1989, and Kenner quickly jumped in with a wonderfully weird toy line. 

Between the movie, the cartoon and those bizarre figures, Beetlejuice basically became a perfect little package of creepy, funny 80s chaos.
