Privacy Policy
Welcome to 47 Tabs Open. This is my corner of the internet for thoughts, collections, stories, and the occasional delightful detour. Here’s what happens to information you share while you’re here.
Who we are
This website is 47 Tabs Open, at https://simplystephanie.ca.
Comments
If you leave a comment, we collect what you enter in the comment form, along with your IP address and browser information. That extra information helps us spot spam before it settles in.
A scrambled version of your email address, called a hash, may be sent to Gravatar to check whether you use its profile-picture service. You can read Gravatar’s privacy policy for details. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture may appear publicly beside it.
Photos and location information
If you upload an image, check whether it contains embedded location information (EXIF GPS). Visitors may be able to download an image from the site and extract that information. Your photo can tell a story without telling everyone where you took it.
Cookies
Cookies are small files your browser saves to help parts of the site work or remember your choices.
If you leave a comment, you can choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. That saves you from typing them again next time. These cookies last one year.
When you visit the login page, we set a temporary cookie to see whether your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal information and disappears when you close your browser.
If you log in, cookies remember your login and screen display choices. Login cookies last two days, and screen options cookies last one year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login lasts two weeks. Logging out removes the login cookies.
If you edit or publish an article, your browser saves one more cookie. It contains no personal information; it simply records the ID of the article you edited. It expires after one day.
Content from other websites
Some posts may include videos, images, articles, or other content from elsewhere on the web. Viewing that embedded content works much like visiting the other website directly.
Those websites may collect information about you, use cookies, add their own tracking, and record how you interact with the embedded content. If you have an account with one of those websites and are logged in, it may also connect that activity to your account.
Who receives your data
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
Visitor comments may also be checked by an automated spam detection service.
How long we keep your data
Comments and their associated information are kept indefinitely. This helps us recognize returning commenters and approve follow-up comments automatically instead of holding each one for review.
If visitor accounts are available and you register for one, we store the personal information you provide in your profile. You can view, edit, or delete your profile information at any time, except your username. Website administrators can also view and edit that information.
Your choices and rights
To request a copy of your personal data, ask for its removal, or contact me about privacy, please use the Contact page.
Some information may need to be kept for administrative, legal, or security reasons. Those records are excluded from an erasure request.
