How I manage Stress




Being a young professional, I know how stressful it is to balance aspects of a career, maintaining a social life, and taking additional courses to give me a competitive advantage in job market. While I’m busy juggling these priorities, I tend to get overwhelmed at the thought of declining in one of these areas…

What if I wrote my topic on my course assignment on the wrong topic?
What if I skip out on drinks with my girlfriends – will they get mad at me?
Will I have enough time to submit my reports before meeting with the senior management team?

I’ll be the first to admit it, but I’m a perfectionist.

I strive to do everything correctly and will make myself go a little crazy working to achieve my goal. It was almost like I was set to “on” mode, being scared to take a break because I would become behind in my work. Basically, I was on the verge of burn out because I never gave myself the time to sit down, relax and just reflect on what I have already accomplished because I never thought I could spare the time! I would sometimes try to start writing in a notebook before going to bed every night. This habit, however, would only last about three days until I would give up because I was too tired or I just didn’t even know what to write about!

Having an app on my phone to document my thoughts is much more practical for my busy life compared to carrying a notebook around with me. Using the app, I can discreetly record my thoughts on my phone in any setting; whether that be on my commute to work or when I’m lounging on the couch. Reflectly is like my own portable therapist that I can carry around in my pocket (how cool and convenient is that?!).
